posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale shook Osaka on Monday, causing damage throughout the area and killing at least four people and injuring scores more. The area is home to several animation and game studios and the Universal Studios Japan theme park. Animator Takuji Yoshimoto updated his status on Monday with pictures of the upheaval inside his work space. Yoshimoto wrote that he was taking a nap on the studio couch when nearby stacks of books and paper fell on top of his head.

pic.twitter.com/qgFUKx1Vpx

Yoshimoto managed to work his way out of the studio to the outside where a crack is visible on the building's wall. The The Osaka Metro Midōsuji LINE wasn't running so he headed out to lunch.

Suehiro is developing the crowdfunded game The Good Life. He previously directed Deadly Premonition, Lord of Arcana, Lord of Apocalypse, and D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die.
The Universal Studios Japan park also suffered some small damage as a result of the quake. The park's ticket window's glass shattered near the entrance.

The park typically opens at 9 a.m. JST but staff delayed entry until 10:40 a.m. JST because of safety concerns. Park staff were also delayed because of the earthquake's affect on public on transit. Some rides were not operating when the park opened as available staff inspected each attraction to ensure it was operating correctly. Staff plan to open the park at the usual time on Tuesday.
