BL Manga Artists Share Recommendations as 'Commercial BL' Hashtag Trends on Twitter

posted on by Kim Morrissy

The hashtag "Commercial BL," which was created in order to recommend commercial boys-love works, has been trending on Japanese Twitter lately. A number of BL fans and manga artists have used the hashtag to plug their own works or share their favorites. Below are some of the artists who have participated in the hashtag.

Arata Ichi recommended their manga Sore wo koi to yobazu ni nanto iu (What to call it if it is not love).

Kimi Ishinashi recommended their manga Sayonara Alpha (Farewell Alpha).

Chise Ogawa recommended their manga Caste Heaven.

Hashigo Sakurabi, creator of Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu., posted a tweet expressing bemusement about the trending hashtag, but introduced themself as a commercial BL artist.

Tamkou recommended their manga LaLa no Kekkon (Lala's Married Life).

Katsura Natsume (Yaru Koi) and Nanoka (Inside Sex) posted covers of a variety of manga they created.

Ryōko Chiba recommended four of their manga: Takaramono Mitsukemashita (I found the treasure), Henshūchō wo suki ni natta wake desu ga (I've fallen in love with my editor), Tokimeki Tameiki Roomshare, and Workaholic Baby.

Waku Okuda posted an illustration introducing four of their works: No Color Baby, Itonaga-kun no koi no ito (The string of Itonaga's love), Koi suru bokura wa ichō ga yowai (We lovebirds have weak stomachs), and Anti Alpha.

Nobody appears to know how the hashtag originated but now is as good a time as any to recommend a good BL manga.
