Japanese television channel NTV opened a website on Thursday to announce that Riki Taoka's Wagahai no Heya de Aru (This Is My Room) is getting a a live-action series adaptation. The series will premiere on NTV on September 18.
The manga centers on 23-year-old graduate student Tetsurō, who lives alone in his apartment in Tokyo. His apartment is in a 41-year-old, two-storey building that is five minutes away from the nearest train station by foot. The series focuses Tetsurō his daily life, as he monologues about such topics as the report that is nearing its deadline, his bitterness in making a mistake at his part-time job, agonizing whether or not he'll ask out the girl he likes, or bantering with his friends via text. Tetsurō is the only character that appears, and his room is the only setting, but sometimes his furniture or electronics will quip during his monologues.
Yuuko Kawabe is penning the script for the series.
Taoka launched the manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine in May 2015. Shogakukan published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on May 12, and the fifth volume will ship on September 12. The author was originally planning to end the manga after two more chapters, but decided to continue it after the live-action adaptation was green-lit.
