Animax Asia announced on Tuesday that it will begin airing Junji Ito "Collection", the television anime of manga by famed horror author Junji Ito, starting on August 4 at 10:00 p.m. GMT +8. Animax Asia will air two episodes every Monday and Tuesday.
The anime premiered in January 2018 and ran for 12 episodes on television. The anime's home video release in Japan included unaired episodes based on Ito's Tomie manga in April and May 2018.
The anime adapts stories from both the 11-volume Itō Junji Kessaku-shū (Junji Ito Masterpiece Collection) series and the Fragments of Horror book.
Shinobu Tagashira (Diabolik Lovers) directed the anime and served as the character designer at Studio DEEN. Kaoru Sawada (Diamond Daydreams) wrote the scripts. Hozumi Gōda (Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai) served as sound director and Yuuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) composed the music.
